Barcelona complains about referee

Barcelona has sent a written complaint to European football's ruling body UEFA about the performance of German referee Wolfgang Stark in their Champions League quarter-final first-leg encounter with Paris Saint-Germain.

According to Toni Freixa, spokesman for the Spanish league leaders, Stark failed to follow the rules of the game in a series of decisions he made during the 2-2 draw in the Stade de France.

Freixa specifically referred to one point in the game where Stark failed to stop play even though Javier Mascherano and Jordi Albi were both down injured in their own half.

Freixa says the referee has to stop play in this situation but this did not happen.

He says Barcelona is aware that referees can make mistakes but believes his team was treated unfairly.
