NZ wins three medals at Sailing World Cup

New Zealand has won three medals at the Sailing World Cup in Majorca the first of the major European World Cup Regattas.

Andy Maloney took gold in the Laser ahead of Sam Meech in third, while Alexandra Maloney and Molly Meech won silver in the 49er class.

Lying 3rd equal going into the last day of competition Andy Maloney won both medal races.

Sam Meech sailed strongly to place 5th and 3rd and claim the bronze medal.

In the 49erFX women's skiff event the young kiwi pairing of Alexandra Maloney and Molly Meech sailed in four stadium style races coming fourth, second and second and before wrapping things up with a win.

Across the six days of racing Maloney and Meech won five races and only finished outside the top eight on one occasion.
