Perth coach puts pressure on Wildcats bench to step up

The Perth Wildcats coach Rob Beveridge is putting the pressure on his bench to keep the side in the Australian National Basketball title hunt against the defending champions the Breakers.

The Breakers won Sunday's opening match in the best of three series as the Auckland side chases a third straight title.

Game two is in Perth on Friday night but Beveridge says his key players Kevin Lisch, Shawn Redhage and Matthew Knight need some help from the bench if they're to level the series.

Beveridge says the expectation is that the trio will score double figures but if they're to win the title others need to perform.

The Breakers have yet to win a grand final series 2-0 and leave for Perth on Wednesday and expect to play in front of a 12,000-strong crowd on Friday night.
