Bulldogs skipper calls for calm ahead of Sonny Bill encounter

6:41 pm on 9 April 2013

The Canterbury skipper Michael Ennis is urging Bulldogs fans not to go over the top when former All Black Sonny Bill Williams plays against his former NRL team, for the Sydney Roosters on Friday night.

It's the first time Williams will play his former club since walking out five years ago to play rugby in France.

Tensions have mounted among Bulldogs supporters after promotional posters featuring Williams were put up around Belmore, near the club's training ground.

With a crowd of over 30,000 expected and many likely to be to be visiting fans keen to vent the anger towards Williams Ennis hopes things remain calm.

None of the players who played alongside Williams are still at the club while the coaching staff have all moved on too.
