A half-brother to the champion Australian galloper Black Caviar was sold on Tuesday for an Australian record $5 million at the Easter yearling sale in Sydney.

The colt was bought by an Australian bloodstock firm for $2 million more than the previous record.

Black Caviar, a six-year-old, was bought by her trainer Peter Moody for $210,000 at the Melbourne yearling sales in 2007, is scheduled to go for her 25th win in as many races on Saturday in Sydney, though she won't run if the Randwick track remains heavy.
