Pakistan player fights Davis Cup decision

Pakistan's leading tennis player is joining the protest against his team's forfeiting of its Davis Cup tie against New Zealand last week because of a sub-standard court surface at a neutral venue.

Pakistan had won the first singles rubber last Friday in Myanmar and their number one Aisam-ul Haq Qureshi was ahead in the second singles match when the Sri Lankan referee stopped the match and awarded the tie to New Zealand, as the courts were Pakistan's responsibility.

The Pakistan Tennis Federation had already announced it was lodging a protest with the International Tennis Federation, but Qureshi says he'll also be meeting Davis Cup officials in London tomorrow to present the team's case.
