Ranger shifts out to the wing

The Blues coach Sir John Kirwan has named his side to tackle the Hurricanes at Eden Park on Saturday night and as expected, centre Rene Ranger will start on the left wing in place of the suspended George Moala.

Francis Saili starts at centre while Tom McCartney is the only other change at loosehead prop, replacing Tim Perry. All Black hooker Keven Mealamu is still on the bench.

Sir John says it was an easy decision to put Ranger out wide, as the three-test All Black played well there when Moala went off.

The coach says shifting Ranger out to the wing will also only enhance his All Blacks claims, rather than hinder them, as a versatile centre who can cover wing gives him extra utility value.
