The world's top golf caddy, Wellington's Steve Williams, has been given much of the credit for getting Adam Scott over the line for his first major championship title at the Masters in Augusta, Georgia on Monday.
In rain and fading light on the second hole of a playoff with the hugely popular Argentine Angel Cabrera, the 32-year-old Queenslander was having difficult reading the line of his four-metre birdie putt, and in a rare move, trusted his caddy with the biggest call of his career.
That winning putt landed Scott a cheque for $US1.44 million, a green jacket and a rise up the world rankings to number three, and for caddy Williams it was his 14th major title.
