Mitchell off to Toulon

It's reported from Sydney that the Wallabies winger Drew Mitchell has accepted a two-year deal to play with French Top 14 rugby club Toulon, where he'll link up with the former Australian test star Matt Giteau at the end of the year.

Mitchell has been linked with an overseas move for some months.

It's believed a joint Waratahs/ARU offer did not match what was tabled by Toulon.

The French club has also just agreed to a one-year contract extension for 33-year-old Jonny Wilkinson.

The former England star said last month he had considered retiring because of a long-standing groin problem, but he's since had successful surgery.
