Coach Hager says Four Nations tourneys invaluable

The Black Sticks coach Mark Hager says the two Four Nations women's hockey tournaments held in the North Island this month have been invaluable for developing players.

New Zealand won the first final, but were beaten 5-1 by Argentina in last night's second final in Tauranga.

Hager says by changing his squad between tournaments, the selectors are better able to choose the best possible team for June's semi-final of the World League in the Netherlands.

He says it allows the selectors to sift their team and answer some questions about their players, while they had the pressure of a final.

Hager says last week they handled that pressure well, while they didn't handle it so well in the second tournament.
