New Zealand driver Scott Dixon overcame a grid penalty that saw him start from the rear of the 27-car field in this morning's IndyCar Long Beach Grand Prix, to finish 10th.
Dixon was penalised for causing a red flag when he spun and blocked the course in qualifying but moved through the field to finish almost 34 seconds behind the race winner, Japan's Takuma Sato.
It's Sato's maiden IndyCar race win and the first-ever for a Japanese driver in the American open wheel series. It moves him up nine places to second overall after three races - all won by different drivers - while Dixon drops to third overall. The series leader remains Helio Castroneves.
Sato edged Graham Rahal by 5.3 seconds with Justin Wilson third.
Pole sitter Dario Franchitti of Scotland had to settle for fourth and defending series champion Ryan Hunter-Reay didn't finish after a crash - the American started second on the grid.
