Invercargill retains hosting rights to Silver Ferns test

Invercargill will host the netball test between the Silver Ferns and Australia in September, despite delays in the rebuilding of Stadium Southland.

The stadium was damaged by snow in 2010 and delays rebuilding it mean it won't be open in time for the Constellation Cup match on September 15.

However the test will remain in Invercargill, with the Stadium Southland Velodrome chosen as the new venue.

The chief executive of Netball New Zealand Raelene Castle says while it's disappointing they can't use the match to open the new facility, they're pleased Invercargill will still host the test.

The match opens this year's Constellation Cup series and will be the first played between the two sides in Invercargill since 2009.
