The Los Angeles Lakers' disappointing NBA basketball season has come to an end after the San Antonio Spurs beat them 103-82 to complete a 4-0 sweep of their first round playoff series.

The 17-time champions were severely depleted with star players Kobe Bryant, Steve Nash and Metta World Peace all out with injury and centre Dwight Howard ejected from the game early in the second half.

The Spurs' star point guard Tony Parker scored a game-high 23 points in Los Angeles, while five other San Antonio players racked up double figures in the win.

Earlier today the defending champion Miami Heat beat the Milwaukee Bucks 88-77 to complete a 4-0 sweep of their series, while the Boston Celtics kept their season alive with a 97-90 overtime win against the New York Knicks.
