Fowler can dominate like Aiken: Brown

The Southern Steel captain Jodi Brown believes their towering Jamaican shooter Jhaniele Fowler can become one of the dominant players of the trans-Tasman netball competition.

The 1.98 metre Fowler shot 53 from 54 as the Steel beat the Northern Mystics 67-52 in Invercargil on Monday night.

Brown says the 23-year-old can follow in the footsteps of a number of the games greats from the Caribbean, such as the Queensland star Romelda Aiken, who's two centimetres shorter than Fowler.

Brown says Fowler's key for the Steel and has had a similar impact to Aiken, who's proven a major handful for much shorter defenders since she joined the Firebirds.

The Steel's second win takes them up to 7th on the table, while the Mystics remain second from bottom with one win.
