The Southern Steel have scored a decisive 67-52 victory over the Northern Mystics in their trans-Tasman netball clash in Invercargill.
It was the first game of the season for the Steel at their spiritual home in the Stadium Southland Velodrome, drawing a sell-out crowd, and the home side responded with a solid all-round performance that left the Mystics reeling.
The Jamaican shooter Jhaniele Fowler shot an almost perfect 53-goal contribution for the Steel.
It's the second win for the Steel and takes them up to seventh on the table, while the Mystics remain second from bottom with one win.
