Crusaders beat Brumbies

11:33 am on 6 May 2013

The Crusaders have moved up to 7th in the Super Rugby standings, just a point out of a play-off position after beating the top Australian side the ACT Brumbies 30-23 in Canberra last night.

The Crusaders couldn't grab the bonus point, but scored 3 tries through Andy Ellis, Zac Guildford and Israel Dagg, while Dan Carter kicked the rest of the points.

The captain George Whitelock says the game could well be season defining and he's pleased with the way the players put on a very physical performance.

The hooker Corey Flynn says they knew it was going to be an intense game and says last week's match against the Rebels was good preparation for what to expect.

The Crusaders 6th win of the season takes them to 34 points, the Brumbies are still top with 41, the Chiefs have 40, Reds, 39, Bulls 37, Blues 36 and Cheetahs 35.

The Crusaders now have a bye.
