The All Black Richard Kahui's season with the Chiefs is over after it was confirmed today he's to undergo more surgery this week on his shoulder.

The 27 year old has had six operations on his shoulders throughout his career including four reconstructions.

The Chiefs coach Dave Rennie says Kahui has been in fantastic form this season since his return from shoulder surgery last year.

Rennie says Kahui goes under the knife on Wednesday but structurally the damage to the shoulder is not too bad.

He says in the past Kahui has damaged the ligaments but this time the injury is muscular with the recovery time expected to be a few months.

Kahui is due to take up a contract with the Japanese club Toshiba in August.
