The former Wallabies captain James Horwill has signed a new two-year deal with the Australian Rugby Union and the Queensland Reds through to the 2015 World Cup.

After missing last season with injury, the 35-Test second-rower is a certain selection for the upcoming Test series against the British and Irish Lions and is likely to be re-instated as captain.

The deal is a boost for the Reds following the loss of high-profile winger Digby Ioane to French club Stade Francais at the end of the year.

Queensland has also secured the services of Wallabies Will Genia and Quade Cooper until the end of 2015.
