Local politicians in Rio de Janeiro want the name of Joao Havelange, the former president of world football's governingbody FIFA, removed from the city's Olympic stadium.

Havelange quit as FIFA's honorary president last month, shortly before the publication of a FIFA report into allegations he took bribes during his time as head of the organisation.

The stadium, often known as the Engenhao but officially named the Joao Havelange Olympic stadium is to be used for the athletics events when Rio hosts the 2016 Olympics.

Rio de Janiero councillors have suggested changing the stadium's name to Joao Saldanha a former Brazil football coach.
