The Waikato Bay of Plenty Magic surged home to score a 53-49 victory over the Central Pulse in their trans-Tasman netball clash in Hamilton.
The Pulse started strongly, but then struggled to control the ball in the second half with the defending champions only taking the lead 6 minutes from time.
The Pulse, who won their opening clash by one, led by 5 at half time but Laura Langman then took more control in the midcourt as the Magic fought back.
Goal shoot Irene van Dyk was well marked but did shoot 21 of 22 for the Magic while goal attack Ellen Halpenny took up the slack making 32 of 40 for the winners.
The Magic are now up to 4th, while the Pulse remain 7th.
