Athletics Kenya to set up anti-doping centre

Athletics Kenya has announced it's setting up an anti-doping centre at training camps for elite distance runners in the north west of the country.

Allegations of Kenyan athletes using drugs surfaced ahead of last year's London Olympics when a German television station reported systematic doping by Kenyan distance runners at training camps in the Rift Valley region.

Athletics Kenya rejected the accusations, but the World Anti-Doping Agency president John Fahey subsequently visited Kenya and held talks with Kenyan government officials.

Five marathon runners were banned by Kenya this year after positive dope tests.
