The New Zealand basketballer Steven Adams is working hard to impress NBA basketball teams ahead of next month's draft.

The 2.13 metre 19-year-old, who opted for the draft after playing just a year of college for Pittsburgh, is working out with fellow NBA hopefuls at the draft combine in Chicago.

Adams appears to have impressed after the first day of workouts with some analysts suggesting he's one of the better players on show.

Adams hopes to be picked up in the first round of the draft late next month, which would guarantee him a three year deal worth at least a million dollars a season.
