Debbie Fuller will return as head coach of the struggling Northern Mystics for the next two ANZ Championship netball seasons.

The franchise's CEO Julie Paterson says the board and players are delighted that Fuller has accepted the position after taking a one-year sabbatical to spend more time with her family.

Fuller says her time out has renewed her drive and excitement for the coaching role and is already well down the track with planning for 2014.

The Mystics, who sit at the bottom of the ANZ table, brought in the former Silver Ferns mentor Ruth Aitken as caretaker coach for this season.

Aitken will begin a two year contract with the Singapore national side later this year.

Fuller started with the franchise in 2009 as assistant coach and went on to become head coach for the 2011/2012 seasons, when the side finished in the play-offs.
