The young Australian tennis star Bernard Tomic will be playing at the French Open despite his off-court troubles, according to Tennis Australia's Todd Woodbridge.

Tomic's father and coach John was charged with causing criminal injury in a Madrid court earlier this month after allegedly assaulting his son's training partner Thomas Drouet.

Todd Woodbridge has been in touch with John Tomic who says his 20 year old son will play at Roland Garros

despite withdrawing from last week's Rome Masters.

Tomic's best grand slam result was a quarter-final appearance at Wimbledon in 2011.
