One of cricket's biggest names, Sachin Tendulkar, has announced his retirement from the Indian Premier League.

The 40-year-old says the time is right time to stop playing the 20-over format of the game.

The announcement came moments after his team Mumbai Indians lifted their first IPL title, beating the Chennai Super Kings by 23 runs.

Tendulkar, who turned 40 last month, has a huge fan base in India and was the first cricketer to score 100 international centuries across tests and one dayers.
