The legendary pole vaulter Sergei Bubka has entered the race to succeed Jacques Rogge as president of the International Olympic Committee.
Bubka, who is head of Ukraine's National Olympic Committee, announced his candidacy in St. Petersburg where the IOC's executive committee is meeting.
Bubka started his career in St Petersburg where he qualified for his first world athletics championship.
He won an Olympic gold medal in Seoul in 1988, and his career included six world championship titles, and 35 world records.
His world record of 6.15 metres still stands.
There are now six candidates in the race to succeed Jacques Rogge, and the vote takes place in September.
