Black Caps skipper picks England for Ashes

The New Zealand cricket captain Brendan McCullum is picking England to beat Australia in the upcoming Ashes series.

Having easily accounted for the Black Caps two nil in the latest series, with England winning the second test in Leeds by 247 runs, McCullum has declared England the favourites with their ability to swing the ball.

The English media has trumpeted the two nil win over the eighth ranked Black Caps as a serious warning for the Australian's but Cook is more circumspect.

He says while the series win is a confidence boost, it will mean little come the Ashes series which is still a month away.

Cook expects Kevin Pietersen to return from a knee injury for the Ashes, which will force a batting change.
