Coach and star import leave Perth Wildcats

The Perth Wildcats, the only team to seriously challenge the New Zealand Breakers in last year's Austalian National Basketball League, have lost their highly regarded coach Rob Beveridge and star import Kevin Lisch.

Beveridge will be remembered as one of the most successful coaches in the Wildcats' history after leading the team to a championship in his first year, a semi-final in his second, and then back-to-back grand finals.

The master coach was left shattered when he missed out last month on the Boomers' top job, which went to his arch rival, who landed the role after guiding the Breakers to the past three titles.

Beveridge hasn't given up hope of landing the Boomers job down the track, and he hopes an extended stint coaching overseas will boost his credentials.

Kevin Lisch, who has an Italian passport, is apparently keen to play in Europe.
