Guptill ton leads Black Caps to opening ODI win at Lord's

An unbeaten century from the New Zealand batsman Martin Guptill has given the Black Caps a five-wicket victory in the first one day cricket international at Lord's.

After restricting the hosts to just 227 from their 50 overs, the Black Caps' chase looked shaky when the English bowler James Anderson took two wickets in the first over.

However Ross Taylor's 54 and Guptill's 103 not out put them back on track, the pair sharing in a 120-run third wicket partnership before Guptill hit the winning runs with a four to bring up his ton as New Zealand reached the target with three overs to spare.

New Zealand have a chance to seal the three match ODI series on Sunday night in Southampton.
