Blues wary of desperate Highlanders

5:47 pm on 1 June 2013

The Blues' Super Rugby playoff hopes are on the line tonight as they take on the last-placed Highlanders in Dunedin.

Sitting seventh on the overall standings, the Blues need a win to ensure they stay in touch with the top six heading into the international break.

The Highlanders have only managed one win this season, but the Blues flanker Luke Braid knows they have the potential to spoil the visitors' season.

Braid says the Highlanders are desperate with nothing to lose with a swag of world class players in their side.

The Blues face a tough run home with a trip to South Africa and a match against the defending champion Chiefs after the international window.
