Nicky Samuels from Wanaka was the best of the New Zealanders at the latest World Triathlon Series race in Madrid taking 15th place.
Christchurch's Andrea Hewitt struggled with allergies throughout the race to finish 29th and Kate McIlroy of Wellington crashed out on the bike grazing her left side.
The race was won by Britain's Non Stanford from Anne Haug of Germany and Jodie Stimpson also of Britain.
The New Zealand men Ryan Sissons, Tony Dodds and Bryce McMaster compete in Madrid tonight.
