Officials at the US Open golf major championship say they have contingency plans if any holes at Merion Golf Club are made unplayable by heavy rains in the Philadelphia area.
With just two full practice days remaining many players are still yet to experience 18 holes on the historic private course.
The US Golf Association chief Mike Davis says the biggest concern is the green and greenside bunker at the 11th hole, which is the lowest point on the course.
However he's confident the course will drain sufficiently for the championship.
Contingency plans include using alternative holes on the club's West course if some holes are unplayable.
More rain is forecast over the next couple of days and for Friday's opening round.
There are two New Zealanders in the field, former Open winner Michael Campbell and Steven Alker.
