Cruden says change of ball caused his kicking woes

Struggles with a change in ball to that used in Super rugby were behind All Black first five eighths Aaron Cruden's poor kicking display in the first test against France at the weekend.

Cruden not only had an off night with his goal kicking but he also struggled to get any distance when kicking for touch and showed obvious frustration with his timing awry.

He's also not kicked much for the Chiefs, with fullback Gareth Anscombe taking on those duties, as Cruden was nursing a groin injury.

Cruden says the Adidas balls used in test matches are different to the Gilbert brand used in Super rugby.

He says the Adidas ones tend to be softer and kickers need to strike them more accurately.
