Tamou charged with drink driving

The National Rugby League player James Tamou has been arrested for drink driving after allegedly being caught almost four times over the legal limit.

Tamou is set to appear in Townsville Magistrates Court on July the 2nd, charged with unlicensed driving and driving under the influence of alcohol, and his North Queensland Cowboys club says the Palmerston North-born New South Wales prop won't contest the charge.

Tamou's still been named in the Cowboys' line-up along with fellow Origin star Johnathan Thurston, who will return from injury as the ailing Cowboys desperately attempt to turn their NRL season around.

Queensland five-eighth Thurston carried a groin problem into State of Origin I last Wednesday and clearly struggled with the injury in the Maroons' 14-8 loss.

He didn't take the field in the Cowboys' defeat to Canterbury last weekend.

In a boost to the Cowboys, winger Ash Graham returns from an ankle injury in place of Kalifa Faifai Loa.
