Australian football coach apologises for sexist comment

The Australian football coach Holger Osieck has been forced to apologise for a sexist comment after his side's 4-0 World Cup qualifying win over Jordan.

The German joked that a male Football Federation Australia official was pushing him around like a woman by telling him where to sit.

He then made a comment in Latin, which he said translated as "women should shut up in public".

Osieck apologised and says the remark was meant as an off-the-record joke to the journalist.
