The New Zealand tennis number one Marina Erakovic has continued her good form, beating the second seed to move into the third round of the Birmingham grass court tournament in Britain.
After a good run on clay, Erakovic has started her Wimbeldon preparations with a three set victory over the Russian second seed Ekaterina Makarova, winning the third 6-0 after sharing the opening two, 7-6 3-6.
The unseeded Erakovic now meets 15th seed Francesca Schiavone of Italy in the third round.
Erakovic and partner Cara Black are also into the second round of the doubles.
In recent weeks Erakovic's singles ranking has improved to 71, while she's up to 28 in doubles.
