Erakovic staying aggressive

Confidence in her attacking play has resulted in another major scalp for the New Zealand tennis player Marina Erakovic.

Following her good run on clay, Erakovic has started her Wimbeldon preparations with victory over world number 22 and second Ekaterina Makarova of Russia in the second round of the Birmingham grass-court tournament.

71st ranked Erakovic says she managed to stay aggressive and kept going after her shots and it paid off with a 7-6, 3-6, 6-love victory.

She'll meet world number 45 Francesca Schiavone of Italy in the third round.

Erakovic reached the semifinals of the singles at Birmingham in 2008.

Erakovic and partner Cara Black will also play their second round doubles match overnight.
