The English Premier League football club Manchester City has formally named the former Malaga manager Manuel Pellegrini on a three-year contract as the club's successor to the sacked Roberto Mancini.
The 59-year-old Chilean, whose appointment had been widely expected for some time with Pellegrini saying last month he had a verbal agreement with City, takes over a club who were runners-up to Manchester United in the league last season.
Meanwhile, Malaga have agreed to appoint former Real Madrid boss Bernd Schuster as their new coach.
