Blues captain slams fighting ruling

7:46 am on 17 June 2013

New South Wales league captain Paul Gallen has accused the NRL of sanitising the game by implementing a new rule which will automatically sin-bin players for fighting.

The policy was implemented at the weekend with referees being told by their boss Daniel Anderson to send players off for 10 minutes if punches are thrown.

The new policy follows an ugly incident involving Gallen and the Queensland prop Nate Myles during the opening State of Origin match in Sydney.

Gallen said he had no regrets about the incident with Myles, but he was shocked at how much of a talking point it has become.
