Meninga asked to leave Brisbane pub

6:08 am on 20 June 2013

Barely 24 hours after claiming he was fed up with rugby league's image being tarnished, Queensland's coach Mal Meninga has admitted he was asked to leave a Brisbane hotel early yesterday morning by security staff.

Staff intervened after Meninga stepped behind a service area asking for a drink about one o'clock in the morming at a celebration for the 30th birthdays of Cameron Smith and Billy Slater.

He left without incident and apparently not drunk, but it was not a good look after Meninga had on Tuesday vented his spleen over what is now becoming a week from hell for the code.
