Prediction Adams may be in NBA draft top ten

The New Zealand basketballer Steven Adams has reportedly been invited to the green room for Friday's NBA draft pick in New York.

An invite to the green room doesn't guarantee Adams will be picked up but is an indication there is plenty of interest in him from NBA clubs.

Adams stocks have been steadily rising since the recent NBA Combine, a camp where NBA hopefuls show their wares to prospective clubs.

Early on Adams was expected to be picked up inside the top 20, but one mock draft list now has him as high as seven while Sports Illustrated predicts he'll be picked up by the Philadelphia 76'ers at 11.

The magazine says NBA sides are split on his future saying while he impressed at the combine he looks lost during a match with the pace of the game appearing too fast for him.

NBA executives have also expressed concern about Adams' laid-back disposition.

However at only 19 - although he turns 20 on Satuday - Adams is seen as a work in progress and is likely to spend most of the next season in the development league.
