CD remain top of State Shield

Central Districts remain top of the State Shield one day cricket competition after beating Canterbury by 4 wickets in their 4th round match in Palmerston

North.

Peter Ingram scored 91 as Central chased down their target of 295 with almost 2 overs to spare.

Second placed Northern Districts beat Auckland by 7 wickets in a match reduced to 34 overs by rain in Hamilton.

Martin Guptil scored 124 as Auckland made 197, however BJ Watling replied with 93 as Northern got to their target with 2 overs to spare.

Defending champions Otago continue their climb up the ladder to third place after beating Wellington by 7 wickets at the Basin Reserve.

Chasing 221, Otago's top 4 batsmen all scored more than 40 in good time as they got home with 11 overs to spare.
