ICC boss backs day-night tests idea

The chief executive of the International Cricket Council has endorsed the concept of day-night Tests.

Cricket Australia chief executive James Sutherland has been driving the idea to try to lift crowd attendances and television ratings for the traditional form of the game.

The five-day version has faced dwindling crowds around the globe, but the main sticking point for day-night matches remains developing an appropriate coloured ball for match conditions.

The ICC boss Haroon Lorgat says if the appropriate ball was developed, the idea had legs.
