New stand to open at SCG today

The new jewel in the Sydney Cricket Ground and the first phase of the famous ground's masterplan will be unveiled today when the Victor Trumper grandstand opens for business.

Built at a cost of around 82 million dollars in under two years, the stand named after one of the legends ofAustralian cricket will be fully utilised for the first time during the Test between Australia and South Africa.

It will increase the venue's capacity by 3,000 to about 46,000.
