Australia missing Warne and McGrath

4:44 pm on 3 January 2009

The former South African bowler Fanie de Villiers says Australian cricket's problems have nothing to do with the captaincy of Ricky Ponting, and everything to do with the absence of Shane Warne and Glenn McGrath.

De Villiers helped bowl South Africa to a famous five-run win at the SCG 15 years ago.

He says it doesn't matter who is captain, whether it's Ricky Ponting, Don Bradman or whoever its all to do with Australia's bowling attack.

De Villiers says with no Warne nor McGrath 80 per cent of the success ratio has gone.
