Lawson and O'Connor on track for ten national titles

6:18 pm on 3 January 2009

The double world champion, Gary Lawson and Danny O'Connor, both sitting on nine national titles, have qualified for post section play in the men's pairs at the National Open Bowls Championships in Auckland.

Meanwhile most of the top duos in the pairs field have qualified to progress to post section play on Monday.

Of the omissions from post section play, the most noticeable was current national squad member, Sean O'Neill and mate Barrie Andrews, of Timaru, and another squad member Jamie Hill (Rawhiti), with Mike Reid.

The first day of section play in the women's pairs saw most of the favoured combinations progressing well, with defending champions Jo Babich and Bev Crowe (Carlton-Cornwall) showing they'll again be a major force.
