Blackburn Rovers win third round FA Cup clash

2:08 pm on 6 January 2009

The English football side Blackburn Rovers have put their Premier League worries behind them by beating minor league club Blyth Spartans 1-0 in the FA Cup.

Chilean international Carlos Villanueva scored the game's only goal with a 25-metre free kick in the second half of a match dominated by Blackburn, who are second from bottom in the Premier League.

The win over Blyth, who are 118 places below Rovers in the sixth division, means the six-times FA Cup winners will travel to the Stadium of Light for a fourth round clash with fellow top-flight club Sunderland.
