Hodge says late pay was the reason he quit ANBL side

Adelaide 36ers import Julius Hodge says not being paid on time was the reason he quit the Australian NBL basketball club.

Hodge was released from his contract with the team on Thursday after a request from his manager.

On Wednesday he shocked teammates by failing to turn up for the win over Wollongong, even though the Sixers management believed his pay dispute had been resolved.

Hodge declined to talk with the media but posted a video on YouTube.

He says he loved playing in Adelaide but at the end of the day basketball was a business and the club has to pay its players on time.
