How pays the price for poor form

Batsman Jamie How has paid the price for an extended run of poor form and been dropped from the New Zealand cricket squad for the last two one day internationals against the West Indies.

How's been replaced by 22-year-old newcomer Martin Guptill of Auckland.

Head of selectors Glenn Turner says Guptill's elevation is earned on the back of consistent form and after impressing on the New Zealand A tours of Australia and India last year.

In the past year How's had 16 one day innings, scoring one century and getting past 50 just one other time, on the top of that he's only got past 50 once in his last 15 test innings .

Coach Andy Moles says he's confident How will quickly find some form with Central Districts.

Also missing from the squad is allrounder Jacob Oram, who aggravated an Achilles tendon problem in yesterday's seven wicket win in Wellington.

The series is level at one all with the fourth game in Auckland on Saturday and the fifth in Napier on Tuesday.

The Black Caps squad for the final two One Day Internationals against the West Indies is:

Daniel Vettori (Captain)

Neil Broom

Grant Elliott

Daniel Flynn

Mark Gillespie

Martin Guptill

Brendon McCullum

Kyle Mills

Jeetan Patel
