9:55 am on 9 January 2009

Hamilton's Chris Lourie will take on Papakura's Richard Collett in the men's singles final at the national open bowls championships in Auckland.

On his way to the final Collett upset Eastbourne's Gary Lawson 21-4 in the quarterfinals and defeated Browns Bays Colin Rogan 21-8 in the semi finals.

Lourie ousted two of the favourites Birkenhead's Tony Grantham, 21-16 in the quarterfinals and Canadian, Ryan Bester, 21-14 in the semi finals, to make the final.

Meanwhile the men's pairs final will be contested by Eastbourne's Matt Gallop and Johnsonville's Rob Ashton.

The women's pairs final will be settled when twice winners and New Zealand representatives Sharon Sims and Mary Campbell take on unlikely finalists Dale Lang and her lead Fiona McKinlay.

The women's singles will pit Tokoroa's Marina Khan against Hakaru's Sue Wightman.
